What I Wore: My 19th Birthday

This year (yesterday) I turned 19 years old! It was a great day spent with my family and boyfriend. I wore this adorable pink skater dress from Lulu's and my studded heels from Tobi. 

I loved dressing up for this occasion and going all-out with some festive balloons, cake, my first legal drink, and there might have been a sparkly tiara involved as well. You can check out my Insta page for all the birthday proof (@mikaylakuehn).

Wish List Wednesday: Dreaming of Summer

I am loving the "chic" look for summer. Dressing up in high-waisted trousers vs. skirts and dresses seems to be trending. I also really like the accessory choices for summer such as gold arm candy, metallic temporary tattoos, and vintage designer earrings. Pink and black seem to be what is catching my eye - black for sophistication, and pink for the feminine side. Accents of gold as also much needed in this palette!

Bright Yellow + Pink

Today's outfit is literally the definition of Spring, to me. Bright colours and a good pair of rain boots! April has been pretty rainy - and hard to get some good photos worked into my schedule. This day happened to be perfect weather - even warm enough to model some shorts!

These are just a few items I have been wanting recently for Spring/Easter and they are mostly all pastel shades, which I love. I am really liking wthe bold lip "trend" this spring and why not try out some pale lavender opaque lips for a change?! This Lime Crime lipstick seems amazing. I also have been slowly collecting/making decor for my room, and some white fluffy pillows would just add that last cute touch! Another thing - this palette from Too Faced just needs to get in my life! It looks so cute on the outside, and I am also loving the fun shades of matte eye shadows included in this. Those are just a few of the things mentioned above, but have a look through to see the rest - it speaks for itself!

Valentine's Day Inspired Nail Art

I created a Valentine's Day inspired nail look this week because Valentine's Day is on Saturday. I went with a colour scheme of white, pink, red, and gold. I added hearts, sparkle, and a hand painted lip print with a little bit of writing underneath that reads"xoxo". 

For my index finger, I used this stamp kit to create the heart design. All the other finger nails are hand painted though.

This is a stamp kit I found at Shopper Drug Mart by a brand called Essence.

First, I chose my nail stamp design and painted over it with one coat of paint. While it was still wet, I quickly used the scraper tool to remove the excess polish. 

I then took the stamper and pushed it firmly into the stencil with the paint on it. I quickly lifted the stamper up, and then placed it directly on my nail. 

It is a little bit tricky to use at first, but after a couple of practice runs on paper, you should be good to go. I can't wait to try out the other designs in other nail posts as well!
