Feminine Chic

Today I am sharing this lovely new outfit and something personal! Read below. xx

This week has been yet another busy one! I have been wrapping up in classes at school, and planning lots of fun new posts for the blog, and also filming some summer YouTube videos for my new channel. I was excited to show this outfit today because I am still loving this windowpane print trend. I added my blush pink skirt to this printed crop top, to add some colour also add more femininity to the look as well.

Since this is a personal blog, I must share something that I have been holding back for a while -trying to pretend it isn't real. In May, I was wait listed for a program at my dream school. I had applied to Ryerson University for Fashion Communications, and was counting on getting in for Fall 2015. I had taken a "Victory Lap" at high school, primarily to focus on getting into this competitive program - and I was unfortunately wait listed. This is a very stressful and frustrating situation. I still have hope to get into the program before the day classes begin (September 8) - but there is no guarantee, according to Ryerson Admissions. For now, I am going to take the summer to focus on my ongoing projects such as this blog, my new YouTube channel and my jewelry business.

Thanks for reading,

XO, Mikayla

Abrstract Water Colour Flowers

This nail design was actually super simple to paint on because it is more of an abstract floral look. I used shades of red, pink, and teal green on a white nail polish background with an overlay of gold glitter. This design is perfect for summer and is a beautiful water colour inspired look to your finger tips. Share photos with me if you try this out, (since it is my original design). You can tag me on Instagram (@mikaylakuehn) or Twitter (@mikayla_k17) :)

Pop of Floral

I am obsessed with this bright and floral print top from shoptobi.com! I love the colours for spring. I paired this slightly cropped top with a black circle skirt, and some white and gold strappy sandals. My hair is curled and wavy, and my makeup is subtle, with a bold pale purple opaque lip. I am looking forward to more summer looks soon and also finishing school so that I can work on more videos, blog posts, etc. If you haven't seen my most recent YouTube video yet, you can watch that here. Have a great Friday + weekend, and thanks for reading! XO

Sugar Coated's First Birthday

♡ Once upon a time, in a small, small town, there lived a girl who loved to create things. She wanted to make beautiful sparkly things that made people feel good about themselves, and looked good doing it. One day, while working in a local boutique, she had a magical idea. She would create a jewelry line that resembles everything she loves. Pink, sparkles, and SUGAR. She got to work and her creativity flowed. Thus, Sugar Coated was born. Sugar Coated Accessories launched on June 1st, 2014, in the Kittens Den, downtown Cobourg. It was a fun day filled with pretty little earrings, necklaces, rings, and sugary cupcakes. Sugar Coated offered people of all ages a chance to accessorize with fun, fashionable jewelry. And it was super sweet to see how much people loved it. Then, in August 2014, Sugar Coated expanded, and started offering their handmade goodies in Port Hope, at Mad Monkey Clothing. From there, Sugar Coated has participated in many local events, charity events, and more. Sugar Coated also started offering more selection of handmade goods such as bracelets, phone cases, phone charms, headbands, and bobbi pins. So now, here we are one year from that very first launch day, and there is so much more to come!

These fun, sugary photos were taken to celebrate my business's first anniversary!

This has been such a fun year!! I have had the amazing opportunity to experience owning my own small business and doing what I love - being creative and fashionable. A year ago today, I launched Sugar Coated Accessories. It all started with a passion, an idea and a dream. The line launched in Kittens Den, downtown Cobourg on June 1st 2014. It offered necklaces, rings, and earrings. The brand now offers more selection - and bracelets too! I have also made some phone charms, bobbi pins, phone cases, and more. All of my product photos can be found on the facebook page, here. Each piece is made with love, and is inspired by sugar and sparkles. You can follow the Sugar Coated journey on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter. There is also a video made on my YouTube channel that covers the story of Sugar Coated, and what it has been like as a young entrepreneur. You can watch that here

Thanks for reading! XO
