November Favourites

From Left to Right: Handmade Knit Bow Headband from Kittens Den, Lush Bubblegum Lip Scrub, Parker Glitz Michael Kors Watch, Soap and Glory Fab Pore, Clinique "Curviest Caramel" Chubby Stick, Samsung Galaxy S4 Android Phone, Taylor Swift 1989 Album, Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Eyeliner, Benefit "Feelin Dandy" Box set, Clinique High Impact Mascara, ILY Couture Pearl Cluster Necklace

Handmade Knit Bow Headband: I purchased this adorable knitted bow headband to go with my pastel pink winter coat. It keeps my ears super warm and looks super cute on! I got this one from from Kittens Den. They still have other styles in stock, and customs are available if you contact the artisan, Meagan Love.

Lush Bubblegum Lip Scrub: I am in love with this lip scrub! Not only because it's pink (though that is a factor), I love the smell/taste and how it leaves my lips super smooth. It exfoliates very well and this comes in handy especially for the colder months. Even though the jar seems quite small, you don't use that much product per use - so it does last a fair amount of time.

Parker Glitz Michael Kors Watch: You may recognize this watch from some of my outfit blog posts - okay, ALL of my outfit blog posts. I am not sure why I have not thought of featuring this one as one of my favourites before, but of course it is a favourite! I hardly ever leave my house without it, it goes with ANY outfit, and comes in handy for knowing the time and date, of course.

Soap and Glory Fab Pore: This product is great for cleansing pores and it always makes my skin feel super fresh after I rinse off! The bursting beads exfoliate and the actual cream is very soothing. The tingly feeling and clear results afterwards are great. I have tried a few other Soap and Glory product, and I seem to like everything. Their labels and packaging remind me so much of Benefit!

Clinique "Curviest Caramel" Chubby Stick Intense : This lipstick or as it may be referred to as "Chubby Stick", is a great neutral colour. I really like it for Fall/Winter.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Android Phone and Taylor Swift 1989 Album: Yes, I finally put my blackberry aside, and invested in a new phone (that has a proper working battery)!! This phone has been great for planning out my busy schedules, planning blog posts, and managing my business pages and other handy tools. I also have been listening to the new Taylor Swift album on it, 1989, and I have to say that it is such a catchy album. I literally love every song on it, and it must be her best album  to date. I have been an on and off T-Swift fan for a while now, and was unsure of her going down a more 'pop' album stream, but this album definitely works for her!

\

Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Eyeliner: I recently switched back to this Stila Liner, and I fell in love all over again. You just can't go wrong with this. Since I started working at Shopper's Drug Mart, I get a discount on this item, so I was super stoked about that! (Even if I had to pay full price though, it is worth every penny.)

Benefit "Feelin Dandy" Box set: I purchased this back in the summer for a switch of blush, and I wanted to try a couple new things. I was highly impressed with EVERY product in this set. The set includes High Beam, Poise Tint, Dandelion Blush and applicator brush, and a Dandelion plush lip gloss. They are simple, light colours that I like to use every now and then.

Clinique High Impact Mascara: I have to say, that this is by far my faourite mascara I've tried, to date. This is only a small version that I have at the moment, but it is still just as great. It lasts all day, gives lashes super volume and length, and DOES NOT flake off or leave dark smudges under my eyes.

ILY Couture Pearl Cluster Statement Necklace: I got this actually on sale a little bit ago, from an online store called ILY Couture. I love how this statement necklace can go with just about any outfit, and it adds glam, effortlessly. I wore this necklace in an outfit I posted a little while ago, and you can take a look at that here.

Felt Heart Details ♡

For this wintery, snowy day, I decided to wear items with the most comfort. I chose this adorable light-weight beige sweater from Kittens Den that has pink felt heart patches on the elbows. I also wore a new pair of lululemon leggings, and my tall pink Hunter boots. This outfit was honestly so comfortable, but it does look dressed up because I added in the touch of faux fur, a pair of glam crystal cluster earrings and I also curled the ends of my hair.

Style Profile: Jaye Williams

Jaye is a very determined and driven, young high school student at CDCI West. She seems to have a clear image in her mind of what she wants as a career, and in her future. Jaye wishes to pursue journalism, preferably in the fashion industry, after high school.

While co-oping at her placement, Northumberland Today, Jaye has gotten to experience many things and even put her writing into publications. She recently has interviewed the Cobourg Piano Man, Michael McNamara, and wrote a 2000 word article about him. This was not only published in the GO magazine, but also the Toronto Sun! Read it here. This is very impressive for a girl her age, and it shows her dedication to her work.

She is usually the one interviewing others, and not used to being in front of the camera lens, but she did a fantastic job! Read her full interview below and see her beautiful outfit photos.

Mikayla:

Describe the perfect outfit for yourself.

Jaye:

The perfect outfit for myself would be the black Valentino spiked shoes, black skinny jeans, a burgundy coloured tweed jacket, with a nude collared shirt underneath, accompanied by a black nano luggage Celine bag.

Mikayla:

What would be one item in your closet that you can't live without?

Jaye:

Black skinny jeans! I find they make my legs look longer, they work with everything aside from brown, and it is an easy go to if I'm stuck on what to wear.

Mikayla:

How did you decide that you wanted to pursue Journalism? Have you always enjoyed writing?

Jaye:

When I was in the eighth grade, I had to write a one page description on my favorite place, and then from there on I loved writing. I decided to move to journalism from that because I work well under pressure, which is what journalism is all about, and I like to express things through writing.

Mikayla:

What is it about the fashion industry and fashion journalism that interests you?

Jaye:

I love how everything is constantly changing. Nothing is ever the same, so you're always working on something new. Fashion is another way to express things without using words, and I want to show people how they can express themselves through clothing, and keep people up to date on everything that does constantly change every day. People don't realize how much someone else can view their personality just through what people are wearing, and I want to show people that.

Mikayla:

If you could write for any magazine, what one would you choose?

Jaye:

Probably Flare or Elle Canada. They are both out of Toronto magazines so I wouldn't have to travel much for them.

Mikayla:

While writing for Northumberland Today, what have you learned? Would you say it has been a good opportunity and experience so far?

Jaye:

I have learned that if there is a new story or something important happens, you will have to drop everything and report on it. It has been great though, everyone is so nice and they are giving me so much breathing space to do my own thing. I have gotten to write a lot more articles than I thought I would have, just since I don't have the same qualifications in education.

Mikayla:

You mentioned Ryerson being the University that you wish to attend after high school. What about Ryerson interests you the most, and why would you like to go there?

Jaye:

I love that it is right downtown Toronto, that is exactly where I want to be. I heard they were very great for Journalism and English. Many people have told me if I want to take journalism, to go there, and I haven't heard anything bad about it.

Mikayla:

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

Jaye:

I'm hoping I'm living in an apartment in a city, I'm not sure which one yet, engaged or maybe just married. I want to be pursuing my dream at a magazine or as a columnist. I hope to have no more school debt, and I definitely do not want kids at that time. I want to be career driven and motivate myself to make my way up the ladder. Hopefully by that time editing will be in my future.
